Purpose of this post is simple and obvious... bring back development to thick client. THANKS!

Add Physical Disk Error
Hi All,
I am trying to add a physical disk to a VM running in VMware Workstation 14.1.3 and am failing. I get a number of different errors issues when doing this. KBs and Google seem a little laxed on things to try.
The physical disk is just a basic SATA HD connected via SATA. The guest OS is MAC OSX 10.14. The reason for me doing this is the Disk has an MAC-OSX partition on it and I would like to read stuff off it. This has worked in the past.
Scenario 1:
When I hot add the physical disk to the VM i get the following error message.
And this in the logs.

Hello, I'm getting this message on ESXi 6.0.0:
As you can see the server is a Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650. I installed ESXi on the m.2 dirves of the Think System configured on a RAID 1 array.
The server is up and running and it has virtual machines on it running just fine.
I tried to search the error message on Google but it's hard to find information relevant to my case. If you need more info to help determine the cause please let me know .

Get the Request ID shown in vRA into an email
Hello and thanks in advance!
I'm trying to get the request number from the vRA request (specifically when a user requests a new server) and i want to pump that to Orchestrator to insert into an email.
Has anyone done this?
Also, has anyone else abandoned the vRA built in emails and created your own in orchestrator? How did you format the scripting in vRO for html formatted emails with vra variables?
APFS in Fusion 10.x
Will there be an option to include APFS in Guests High Sierra onwards?
I know currently Fusion uses virtual image HD, but it could support APFS culdn't it being virtual?
Apple probably would be against using it on spinning HD,but even if Fusion could opt for SSD virtual disk, or since its an image, it wouldn't really matter for performance, APFS would get more benefits over HFS+
Toast notification not shown for Windows 10 (UWP) Application in publish mode
We have a windows 10 application (UWP - Universal Windows Platform ) which receives real time notification from server and it displays it as a toast notification to the user. The user once sees the notification takes an appropriate action on it.
Issue:
The toast notification of that windows app is properly shown to the user on vmware horizon desktop mode but it is not seen on user thin client when application is launched through vmware publish mode. May I know, whether a toast notification is supported on publish mode via vmware horizon client or not.
If it supported, may I know some pointers through which we can try further to fix the issue. If it is NOT supported, may I know a link where vmware has mentioned that it is not supported.
A quick response will be really appreciated.
How to properly apply certificate on VCSA 6.5 HA?
Hi,
I have a VCSA 6.5 HA set up and I'd like to apply *only machine SSL* certificate signed by Windows Enterprise CA. I know how to do it in standalone VCSA 6.5. My question is: do I just go through the same process of applying the machine SSL certificate onto the active node? What happens to the passive node? Will it get updated automatically as part of the sync from the active node?
thanks,
VMware Console install command line parameter
Hello Community,
i've got a problem installing vmrc-10.0.2 unattanded (i know this is VMware vSphere section, but its the closest section found since its related to connect to vSphere ESXi).
After unattanded installation the client will reboot and i want to suppress this. - Command line looks like:
setup.exe /s /V /Qn EULAS_AGREED=1 AUTOSOFTWAREUPDATE=0 ATACOLLECTION=0 MsiSystemRebootPending=0 RebootAction=0 /L "C:\temp\vmrc.log"
Both parameter "MsiSystemRebootPending" and "RebootAction" are used in log file:
Incrementing counter to disable shutdown. Counter after increment: 0
PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding REBOOTACTION property. Its value is '0'.
PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding MSISYSTEMREBOOTPENDING property. Its value is '0'.
But these lines are followed by:
RESTART MANAGER: Disabled by MSIRESTARTMANAGERCONTROL property; Windows Installer will use the built-in FilesInUse functionality.
PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding MsiSystemRebootPending property. Its value is '1'.
After installation finished:
Property(S): MsiSystemRebootPending = 1
Property(S): REBOOTACTION = 0
Property(S): MSISYSTEMREBOOTPENDING = 0
[...]
Decrementing counter to disable shutdown. If counter >= 0, shutdown will be denied. Counter after decrement: -1
and the system will reboot.
If i do "setup.exe /?" i get an information that all command-line parameters are located at the unattanded section in the handbook.
But i searched for 2 hours without success. the only "documentation" i've found is this: "VMware Remote Console – Dokumentation
Not usefull in my case. - Does anyone know the answer?

VMware 6.5 auto space reclaim with Dell Compellent
Hi All,
So we have a HP MSA 2042 and a Dell Compellent 2020 as our main prod storage. The issue we appear to be having is with auto space reclaim under VMware 6.5
In the Compellent we have some SSD disks and 10K SAS. From what I have been told, the Data page size is auto allocated based on the type of disk,ie for our SSD pool, its been given a Data page size of 512k, for our 10K SAS, its been given 2MB.
Am I correct in assuming that auto space reclamation will never work for the pool allocated a 2MB data page size back at the array?
More here:
https://cormachogan.com/2016/12/05/determining-array-supports-automated-unmap-vsphere-6-5/
Now according to the HCL, our array supports this. According to Dell, I can't change the Data page size to under 1MB for the SAS pool, and it will cause a massive loss of use-able space if I did that.
I was told by Dell that if I migrate a VM from say Datastore A, to Datastore B, lets say each DS is a separate VOL back at the array, even though the space is not reclaimed from the Datastore A VOL, it will know it can "use" that space still on subsequent writes. Does that sound correct? Because it doesn't to me.
Any help would be much appreciated.
6.5.2 and web certificates
Aloha,
We are moving from 5.5 to 6.5.2. We have a test system we are banging away on for now.
The most recent mystery we are trying to solve are web certificates. To be specific we are
trying to do away with the warning we receive when trying to open the variety of web clients.
Also we are trying to enable the ability to upload a folder to a datastore. This link was supposed
to take care of both issues - https://vcdx133.com/2017/09/18/vsphere-6-5-unable-to-upload-files-to-datastore-or-deploy-ovas/
Two of us tried this on two different machines. Both of us came away with no changes in
solving either problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have found it is not available to download View GPO bundle on latest version of Horizon (7.5.1). I would like to have this bundle file for project deployment.
many thanks.
1703 , 1709 and 1803 are currently NOT supported with 5.9.1
mail from the support team:
Please note following from our engineering team
Unfortunately 1703 , 1709 and 1803 are currently NOT supported with 5.9.1. It is being looked at by engineering but there is no ETA at this time. There is a high level of confidence with 1703 as the changes are minor as they pertain to Mirage. However 1709 has kernel level changes and we have not be able to properly QE to understand the impact that will have.
The customer is of course free to experiment and we will assist as best we can but if there is an issue that requires a code level update we will not be able support them at this time.
Significant Fixes
• Core Windows 10 Creators Update (v1703 and v1709) support: Support added for bare metal provisioning, in-place provisioning, OS migration, hardware migration, restore, revert to snapshot, and apply driver library. Operations not supported include base layer update and rebase, application layer and update.
That this time windows 10 1803 is not supported
converter SDK in unix
HI All,
i'm a newbie for the converter sdk
could you please provide a sample shell script or python script to use the converter sdk for migrating the p2v windows/unix servers.
Do we have to run the sdk script on the converter machine or any machine which has axis, ant and sdk files ?
Thanks in advance.
win 1803 - waiting for service
Hi,
anyone gets an answer regarding issue with win 10 "1803"? since the upgrade, we no absolutely no upload, it goes to 80% and then stops.. so no backup for at least 50 computers..
Any tricks on your side ? Even put back the base layer with an older version does not work, service stops after a while..so only way to solve is reinstall pc from scratch and make sure windows update is disabled..
Help
Mirage Version Update?
Hello-
It's been a while since the last update to Mirage. Is anyone aware of an update that will support base layer support on Windows 1709 and future releases of windows? I'm really hopeful that they'll continue releasing updates for this product.
Thanks,
Mike

ESXi 6.7 kernel panic during Heap_Free in dlmalloc
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I couldn't find a bug tracker for ESXi.
The host has been running ESXi 6.0 and now 6.7 without issue for a couple years. After reboot, it's all back to normal; so, I don't think it's a hardware problem. I wasn't doing anything in particular when this happened. I.e., no easy repro.
