Hello good people of VMware.
I have a VM separating my personal (host) from my work (VM), I want to insure that my VM is getting the best performance possible.
I'm planing on buying one of the CPUs listed in the title, and I want to know what are the best VM settings for those processors? Knowing that:
- Both the 3700x/3800x are 8 cores 16 thread processors.
- The 3900x is a 12 cores 24 thread processor.
I hear that the general recommendation for the CPU settings for Workstation Pro is to always have a 1 CPU and 4 cores per VM, does that still stand with the above CPUs? or should I use something like:
- For the 3700x/3800x: 2 CPUs / 8 cores.
- For the 3800x: 4 CPUs / 16 cores.
If the above cannot be answered without more information, perhaps then a better question would be as follow: how does CPU count and cores in Workstation Pro translate to the real CPU/cores in host?
