Earlier this week our VM infrastructure burped for lack of a better word. As we brought everything back up we noticed that our storage was only a 1/3rd of what it should be. Looking into it we see that all 3 of our hosts are in the VSAN cluster, but only the disks of one are being read. The other two are showing connected but when we do a 'esxcli vsan storage list' we noticed that all of the disks on the two hosts are showing as 'In CMMDS: false'.
So we have 3 hosts, our fourth is ready to be added once we are done figuring this out. 1 has all of its drives being read, the other two are listed as connected, but drives are not being read.
Hoping anyone has a suggestion on what we can look into to bring the drives back in. Thanks in advance.
I appear to be missing my default directory connectors on my appliance. If I try to add a connector I just get the activation code page and it does not activate. Anyone know how to get the default connector back?
Hello All,
I need to call an attribute from vCAC guest agent as part of machine provisioning and the attribute is a VRO attribute. Currently I am pushing the value to a custom property and updating the property value each time with vcac extensibility workflow "update property value".
But i feel there are lot of overhead in this and is there anyway I can push the value to properties of the vCAC using VRO , so that vcac guest agent call this value and execute my script.
if (vCACVmProperties != null) {
vCACVmProperties.put("customvalue", "I@mT!s3ST##@");
}
I can login to the ESX server with the Watchlist app, however, when I Power On a virtual machine, it crashes the app. This crash occurs on a Nexus 5 with Android 6.0, build MRA58K. The app works fine on Android 5.1.1; it appears this issue is with the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. Thanks.
Dear All,
I have a Vmware SRM LAB setup with SRM 5.1 and netapp Simulator 8.1.2.
The setup is Implemented successfully and working fine.
I tested and do the recovery to the DR site. Recovery works successfully.
After that When I try to reprotect the site , the reprotect is getting failed, showing error as follows.

Is there any option to increase the timeout of array based storage replication?
But after sometime, if I tried to reprotect the site, it getting protected successfully.
please find the attached files for success and failure reprotect task.
Hi
As part of the provision workflow I need to validate if the given datastore name is already in use (i.e. datastore with the same name already exist).
I can see that VcPlugin has an api, getAllDatastores() that takes filter object. Not sure how to use this filter object.
Can you please help me with the syntax for finding a datastore based on the name using filter object? In case there is other way to figure this out, instead of re-iterating through the list of all datastores in the system please let me know.
Thanks and Regards,
Salil
My VMware application was corrupted (multiple times) and I had to force remove the application and all entrants of it. I used the KB article to remove all of the bits and pieces.
Now, I cannot connect to any USB devices with my VMs (any of them) and I get no errors that there is an issue.
Looking at my services.msc section, it shows USB Arbitration Service for VMware is "starting" but never actually starts. I found the log for the service and all it says is the below. I can't seem to get the service to start even after installing/reinstalling/removing/deleting the application or executables associated with the service. I could use some help in figuring out why I can't connect USBs or start this service.

We have a four node cluster, a master node and three data nodes, and we're looking at options to back it up. The only way I'm currently confident to back it up is to turn off the cluster, power off all the nodes, and stash a copy of the vmdks somewhere. Is it possible to take a backup without turning off the cluster? Does anyone have a solution that is taking incremental backups while the cluster is live?
Hello All,
We're planning for a ESXi Hosts Migration from one cluster to another in same vCenter and those 3 clusters are in same Virtual Data Center.
Can someone please provide steps to do this activity.
Thanks in Advance

Hi,
I have encountered a wired issue with NSX Firewall (filter).
Once you enabled NSX Firewall even with "allow all traffic" default rule.
The HTTP packet through TCP port 69 will be dropped.
The 3 way handshaking can complete, but the following ACK packet for data transmit will be dropped.
There is no block event in NSX. But if you turn on Live Flow, you will see the Flow State is "Blocked".
This case can easily reproduced by:
1. Enable NSX firewall services.
2. With the default FW rules, the last rule is allow all traffic.
3. Place a web server listening on port 69 not protected by NSX.
4. Start a VM with NSX network protection, open IE browser, connect to http://{web_server}:69/
If you capture wireshark in the VM, you will see after 3 way handshaking completed, the following ACK for server response will missing.
If you turn on Live Flow on the VM nic, you will see Flow State "Blocked".
Does anyone know what happened?
Environment:
NSX 6.24
ESXi 5.5
Client VM Windows 2008 R2
Http Server VM (Not in NSX cluster): Ubuntu 14.04 x64
Deciding between using Dell (Samsung) PM1725 TLC based PCIe SSD drives and Intel P3700 MLC based PCIe drives for use as the cache drives in an all flash vSAN. Both drives appear on the vSAN HCL.
Is there a possible performance issue with using the TLC drives? The performance according to the datasheets on each drive look to be very similar. I've read that TLC drives use an SLC based write cache to mitigate the performance issues of using TLC, and that when you reach a certain sustained IO the performance hits a wall. I'm worried about this happening when putting a server in maintenance mode and evacuating all data. Of course the datasheets are giving you numbers that best case scenarios.
Maybe there are other factors to consider. Can anyone chime in please?
Thanks!
Hi,
version: vCenter 5.1
As I know vSphere client 5.1 not compatible with Windows 10. Thus I am using Windows 7 to connect it.
But suddenly Windows 7 also failure to connect.
Anyone can tell me why ?
Thanks
Hi. In the vSphere Web Client, it seems the dates/times are always displayed in American format (mm/dd/yyyy, h:mm AM/PM) instead of my computer's and my vCenter (Windows) Server's correct locale/format, which should be yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm.
Any ideas on how to change this? My searches are coming up empty regarding this issue.
... I can find a .ISO download of Windows XP Pro x64 SP4? (or worst case, a list of all KB's and their location?)
I have my original Retail version of Windows XP Pro x64. In fact, that was the core component that has permitted me to 'upgrade' my OS all the way to Win 10 Pro.
However, I find I am in the need to create a VM client with Windows XP Pro x64, and I do not have Service Pack 4 (or 3 or 2 or 1 for that matter.)
For VMTools to work with Windows XP Pro x64, SP4 must be installed.
I'm hoping to obtain this for no cost, though I'm not sure that is likely.
Thank you for your guidance!
Jim
