DEM, Teams and O365 Outlook profile

So we are running a VMware 7.8 environment, DEM 9.11 and AppVolumes 2.18.6 with Instant Clones, O365 and Teams installed on the golden image.  I finally was able to get DEM setup properly (thanks to DEMdev) to save the Outlook profile when the user logs out so they don't need to go through the setup of their Email account each time they login to a desktop and open Outlook.

 

NOW I have an additional problem:

Teams is no longer available on the desktop when the user logs in.  Prior to getting the Outlook profile working through DEM, Teams would launch automatically and place an icon on the desktop.  Now that is not happening. AND I cannot find Teams in the program list however it is still listed under Programs and Features.

 

I am guessing it is something in DEM that needs to be set/changed but do not know what.

 

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Android set default keyboard

Hey Community,

 

Maybe someone knows if there is some possibility to set custom or some third party keyboard as default from UEM console ? We have situation that some web pages allow user to copy/paste text only with using ctrl+c/ctrl+v and for some brands default keyboard are missing ctrl button, so that mean we need to somehow change keyboard. As we have wuit a lot of device with this issue it would be fine do it somehow automatically.

Hi,

We need to install Firefox on our Android devices and we need to put Firefox as default browser.
Is it possible configure this option using Airwatch/Workspace ONE? Or it's only possible to do it from the devices?

Display problem while RDP in Windows server hosted on a VMware ESXi 7.0

Hello,

Im having a weird issue on which I already lost a lots of time and I can't seems to find anything online about that.

Here is my issue:

I have 15 Windows (Windows 10, Windows server 2016 and Windows server 2019) hosted on the same server (ThinkSystem SR590 running VMware ESXi 7.0). When we connect in RDP to one of those server we got some severe display/video glitches. I have another server of the same model on which I moved some of those Windows with Veeam quick migration and on this host I don't have the issue at all. Before that I was with VMware ESXi 6.7 and when I switched to 7.0 I did a full install thinking that would solve it without success.

Those VM where previously hosted on Hyper V and I used Vmware converter to switch them over to VMware.

 

Does anyone here ever got a trouble like that?

PowerCLI performance vs clicking 'Export' button in vsphere UI.

Hello!

I'm in the process of trying to automate some report gathering and data massaging that I've been tasked to do.  This has led me down the road into PowerCLI, and many posts and answers (especially LuciD's) have been very helpful! While I have several tasks that are pulling specific information about my cluster's health, etc - I've been asked to automate the 'Export' button.  I have a bit over 1800 machines in the cluster, and the 'export' button takes about half a second to generate what I'm looking for - but the same report (still missing a few columns, I'm a total newb) takes HOURS to run.  Am I missing something?  

If someone has figured out an efficient way to create this .csv file progmramatically?

Setting Default Apps in Android Enterprise profiles?

I am working on migrating 700 devices from Android legacy Workspace ONE/Hub/Launcher profiles to Android Enterprise profiles and am building the profiles now.

 

I cannot find a way to set the default apps in Android's system settings - default mail client, default browser, default text message app, etc. from the profile level. How do I do this?

 

Console: 2005

Work-managed profiles, work owned devices. Super locked down Launcher based devices, they must be "dummy proof"

Devices will be running Android 9 & 10

Everything we run is Samsung:

XCover Pro/A10E/J3V

Can a paid VMware Fusion 12 Player license be downgraded?

I am currently on Fusion 8.  I wanted to upgrade to Fusion 11, but in the middle of my researching that upgrade, Fusion 12 was released and 11 is no longer available for purchase.

 

Can a paid VMware Fusion 12 Player license be downgraded to Fusion 11?

vRO 8.0/8.1 setup issue

Hello,

 

I am trying to set up an 8.0 or 8.1 vRO on our 7.0 cloud for testing purposes. This is all on a private network. After deploying the OVF template and powering on the VM, we are able to successfully do nslookups for the DNS name and the IP. There is a responsive ping as well for both. When I try to connect to the vRO through the browser with "https://FQDN/vco" , there is a delay and then a refuse to connect error. This error occurs on all different browsers. We've followed the instructions in the "Installing and Configuring VMware vRealize Orchestrator" guide and are unsure of what may be the issue. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Order to upgrade workspace one

Hi everyone

I'm new in this world, and I must upgrade workspace one to version 2005. In this moment we're in version 1909

My question is: What is the correct order to upgrade all components?

I tried to upgrade 2 days ago and was impossible because I begun upgrading the database and after that, I planed upgrade the console and device servers. I dont know if this is the correct procedure.

In the upgrade guide is not clear to me, help me please.

SEG and webmail can we shut off webmail??

We have the SEG classic and exchange on premises.  On the firewall we have the settings of:

 

Port Forward:

Description:EXCHANGE2010_443
Uplink: Both

Protocol: TCP

Public Port: 443

Lan IP: (exchange box)
Local Port: 443

 

Description: Exchange2010-80

Uplink: Both

Protocol: TCP

Public Port: 80

Lan IP: (Exchange)

Local Port: 80

 

1to 1 NAT

Name:

Public IP: (outside IP)

Lan IP: (SEG IP)

Uplink: (internet uplink)

Allowed Inbound Connections: TCP 443 Any remote IP

 

Mail flows to Boxer on all devices just like we want it to.  When I remove the two port forwarding entries for exchange, I will get mail to my devices if I am inside my network but if I go outside of my network I do not.  Is there a way that I can turn off webmail for external use by deleting the two exchange entries but still get mail delivered to my other devices when they are outside of the network?

I want webmail to work on the inside but not on the outside but I still want boxer to keep on getting mail.  I thought that is what the seg did. Any help would be great!!

HPE Microserver Gen10 Plus Probleme esxi 7.0U1

Hallo Zusammen

 

 

Ich hätte da mal eine kleine Frage.

Habe mir einen HP Micoserver Gen10 Plus zugelegt mit folgenden Spezifikationen:

 

 

- 2x 2TB Seagate Iron Wolf HDD

- CPU 1x E-2224, 4 Cores, 3.4GHz, 71W

- RAM 1x 16GB 2666MT/s

- S100i SATA only

 

 

Auf die Hardware habe ich esxi 7.0 U1 HP Custom Image gepackt, ein RAID der Festplatten habe ich nicht gemacht da Vmware ja leider kein Software Raid unterstützt.

Esxi 7.0U1 wird offiziell unterstützt gemäss Vmware Kompatibilitätsliste.

Auf dem esxi laufen dann zwei Windows Server 2019 und eine 3CX PBX.

Die Installationen haben ohne Probleme geklappt, nun zur eigentlichen Frage.

 

 

Sobald das System ein paar Stunden läuft und man dann Einstellungen an den einzelnen VM's machen möchte dann erscheint zwar eine Eingabe Maske aber es dreht sich nur das Ladezeichen und man kann nichts eingeben.

Das selbe tritt auf wenn man auf einem Datastore etwas hochladen möchte, dann dreht sich das Ladezeichen und na ein paar Augenblicken steht da ist ein Fehler aufgetreten probiere es noch einmal.

Grundsätzlich kann gesagt werden, läuft das System einige Zeit kann man keine Einstellungen mehr vornehmen, das geht dann hin bis zu das man VM's nicht mehr ausschalten kann.

 

 

Würgt man den Server ab und startet neu dann klappt alles wieder für ein paar Stunden.

 

 

Vielleicht kennt jemand das Problem und kann mir da weiterhelfen.

vswitch does NOT appear as a network adapter

I've currently got 2 vswitches working in my environment for connectivity to seperate LANs.  I'd like to create a 3rd/4th.  I've configured the vswitch, same as the original 2; however, when I go to edit the settings on a VM and click the down arrow to choose a network adapter, I am NOT seeing the 3rd/4th vswitch.  A friend helped me setup the original vswitch, so its entirely possible I've missed a step, but am curious why I don't see the new vswitch listed in network adapters?

 

I get the same 2 original vswitches ONLY.  I've tried mutliple vm's but no dice, they all look the same, so I'm thinking it has to do with my vswitch configuration (but only a guess)?

Adobe Acrobat ThinApp

We have been struggling with creating a thinapp for Adobe Acrobat DC2015, Standard or Professional, to run on VMs running Windows 10 v2004.  Previous versions of thinapp did not support this OS version.  We had successfully built and deploy a thinapp for this software on Windows 10 v1709.

ThinApp v5.2.8 was released recently, with support for Windows 10 v2004.

 

We are able to successfully finish the built of the Adobe Acrobat DC2015, but, after deployed to VMs in a Horizon VDI environment, an exception window comes up, randomly, when the user tries to open the program, or a PDF file or save a file in PDF format.

 

 

 

Once OK is selected, the windows closes and the software runs fine.  But it is becoming an annoying issue for the user running this thinapp.

The master VM, we use to capture the install, only runs Windows 10 v2004 with the additional programs installed:

- VMware Tools

- VMware ThinApp

- Acrobat Customization Wizard DC

 

Both software installs, Adobe Acrobat DC and the Customization Wizard are, first, downloaded locally. 

The Customization Wizard makes the following setups

- Request Offline Exception

- Suppress display of EULA

- Unattended install

- Suppress Reboot

- Disable Product Updates

- Disable Load trusted root certificates from Adobe

- Disable all Adobe Services

Only after customizing Adobe is when we start the Capture process.

We are running Horizon v7.12.0 build-15770369, ThinApp v5.2.8

 

Have any of you ran into this issue?  If so, how were you able to fix it?

Fusion Pro 12 Graphics Perfomance Poor

Just updated to 12 Pro from 11.5.6 Pro.  The graphics performance is noticeably slower.  Tried reinstalling VMware tools and tried different Display settings with no change.  Just using some apps for programming.  In the apps you can basically see it slowly rebuild a toolbar for instance one icon at a time basically.

 

VM is Windows 10 Pro with latest updates.  2 CPU and 4gb dedicated to it.

 

Mac is a 2017 MBP 3.1ghz i7 with 16gb ram and an AMD Radeon Pro 560 4gb with MacOS 10.15.6

Management Server backup - Synology NAS (NFS - SMB Shares)

I have created a SMB and NFS share to contain the Vcenter Management server backup and i cannot connect to the share via the Management  interface.  The interface give the error "Access to the backup server is denied - Check your credentials" .

 

Both shares have been tested, as i can connected to each of them via NFS and SMB by  mouting them on a linux machine with the following commands

 

#SMB Share

//IP Address/backup /mnt/backup cifs vers=2.0,username=admin,password=adminpaassword,uid=1024,gid=100,iocharset=utf8,rw

OR

 

#NFS Shares

IP address:/volume1/backup /mnt/backup nfs rsize=8192,wsize=8192,timeo=14,intr

 

I am also able to connect to these shares via Windows.

 

Can someone let me know of how i can fix this?     ans also the filename and location of the log that records theses attempts.   maybe there is more info there.

connect-viserver not working and get prompted for credentials

On one machine, I use the connect-viserver ServerName command and that is enough. It connects. On another machine, I get prompted for credentials and then it fails with "The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive."

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to make this work?

 

machines I'm connecting from that work: Windows Server 2008 R2, Server 2016. That don't work: Windows Server 2012 R2.

PowerCLI versions: 5.1 and 5.8 - I've tried both versions on one of the machines that work and it continues to work and both on the machine that doesn't work and there's no difference.

ESXi 7.0.1 'DevicePowerOn' power on failed with Nvidia Quadro P400 passthrough

I've updated from 6.7.0u2 to 7.0.1

(HPE-ESXi-6.7.0-Update2 to (Updated) HPE-Custom-AddOn_701.0.0.10.6.0-40)

In an attempt to be able to pass through an Nvidia Quadro P400 to Linux guest.

In 6.7.0u2, Linux could see the GPU, but not "correctly" (nividia-smi not reporting card, but shows up with lspci)

 

I've read about the passthrough changes in 7.0 and have created a new ESXi 7.0 U1 virtual machine from scratch.

The GPU is marked as active passthrough in the host hardware

The VM is configured with UEFI bios

I've added the GPU as a "Dynamic PCI device"

Although does seem odd at top level to see:

I've reserved all the guest OS memory

This GPU only has 2Gb...so nothing fancy there in memory allocations.

This card is max 30 watts and no "extra" power connections.

 

Since trying this on 7.0.1 I cannot even start the VM as it always fails with:

"Power on failure messages: Module 'DevicePowerOn' power on failed."

 

I see nothing in the logs that would explain the failure.
