Resolution

This is an unrecoverable error, please retry install. If you encounter this error again, please search for these symptoms in the VMware Knowledge Base for any known issues and possible resolutions. If none can be found, collect a support bundle and open a support request.

We are currently unsure why this error is occurring. This error appears as the Security Token Service (STS) is starting up during the install.

i'm new to the community and have a question for a customer of ours.

we support them with Android handheld terminals from Zebra (TC70 and TC57 mostly) an currently have the GPS turned off on all devices.

the customer made a request to have the GPS on with the least amount of battery loss as possible, which is easy doable.

the only questions that came to mind when i was looking into the variety of settings to chose is "what do they all mean specifically?"

location service configuration options:

- allow no location acces (would think this is pretty self explanatory)

- Set GPS location only (meaning only through GPS and no use of network location?)

- Set battery saving location updates only (meaning it will periodically turn on GPS to send location information?)

- Set high accuracy location only (meaning through GPS and network?)

i hope someone can help me answer these questions. i couldn't find any documents on the explanation, only the existence of those setting options.

Whilst attempting to upgrade a vCenter 6.7U3 Appliance (6.7.0.45000, Build number 16708996) to VCSA7 (7.0.0d Build 16749653), two attempts have been unsuccessful, with below error at Upgrade Stage 2 where the VCSA7 appliance has been successfully deployed and migration of configs is to happen next.

Error: Migration Assistant is not running on Update Manager host machine HOSTNAME_FQDN

Resolution

Update Manager installed on HOSTNAME_FQDN will be upgraded as part of the vCenter Server upgrade process and will be migrated on the new vCenter Server Appliance. Run Migration Assistant on Update Manager host machine HOSTNAME_FQDN, and keep the Migration Assistant window open until the (vCenter Server) migration process completes

Warning: vCenter External Extensions

Description

This vCenter Server has extensions registered that cannot be upgraded to or may not work with the new vCenter Server. Resolution

Please ensure extensions are compatible with the new vCenter Server and re-register extensions with the new vCenter Server after upgrade. Please refer to the vSphere documentation on extensions, and the upgrade and interoperability guides.

Upon checking the vCenter Server UI, did note that Update Manager shows “An unexpected error has occurred" and have been unable to resolve this even after deploying a new VCSA6.7U3 and importing a backup. Update Manager Service however is started and restarting the service or appliance has no impact on the error.

After the VCSA Upgrade fails, it leaves the VCSA Management Interface showing “Update installation in progress”, and have to overcome it via the steps in https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/67179

Any suggestions or guidance? Have a Support SR open since last week but responses are too slow and suggested responses haven't helped yet.

When I try to assign Boxer app to some devices it's asking to configure email settings and there is a field which asks for EAS server and it's must have field. So that mean Boxer can only be use via EAS server?

I cannot start thunderbird, firefox every morning, when I start my work day.The problem is smartcard related and only occurs on a Linux client.

I have this behaviour usually when I go home in the evening and reconnect to a locked session in the morning

What happens:

Firefox and thunderbird do not start anymore, "sudo -s" or "pkcs11-tool -L"  command hangs.

The VM, on which this happens, is a RedHat 7.8 with the necessary smartcard fixes see [1], otherwise SCard does not work at all.

What needs to be done, for working SCard, is explained here:

But SCard,firefox,thunderbird,... works fine, when connected to the VM from Windows clients!

My VM runs: RHEL 7.8 with Horizon 7.9 or 7.10 ,windows clients works, no problem.

When I look a the source:

Up to now, I cannot reproduce the bug, I must wait for it, for ~12 hours.

We're trying to deploy several internal apps (MSI based installers) but they fail instantly - looking at the registry key under "Queue" (HKLM\Software\AirWatchMDM\AppDeploymentAgent\S-1-5-18):

LastErrorHRESULT = Failed to sanitize the cache directory

I've tried deleting the cache directory altogether (%programdata%\AirWatchMDM\AppDeploymentCache) - the directory gets recreated and the directory with the app's uniwue code gets created but it remains empty.

Searching Google and this forum comes up with nothing - the most we have is the "Cheat Sheet" that confirms the error code, but no remedy for the issue.

Does anyone have any tips for this issue?

with latest vmware workstation player 15 version I could create ubuntu 20.04 VM, install open-vm-tools-deskop and use multiple monitors of my host.

With player 16 that is not possible anymore. Nothing happens if I select another option, the VM remains running on just one display. Within the VM, I can also see only 1 display.

This is reproducible with latest vmware workstation player 16, Windows 10 1809 and Ubuntu 20.04 as guest.

I was amused to see there is no Blast support in the current Horizon Content Pack for vRealize Log Insight. Only PCoIP dashboards?

And I suppose there gonna be no such pack anymore?

I have a question on old Vmware 4.1 - hope someone can assist

The setup consits of some hosts esxi 4.1  which were connected to vcenter 4.1 and using Datastores and VDS configured at Vcenter Level.

Now the Vcenter Server (Windows 2008 R2) has corrupted and beyond repair. All the VMs are working fine accessing the Datastores and VDS which was configured with Vcenter.

We need to build a new Vcenter. Unfortunately, there is no backup.

My Questions

1. How Do I deregister the ESxi and join to New Vcenter

2. IF the ESXi joins to new Vcenter will it still see the Datastores and VDS ? if not then what option do I have to retain the Datastore and VDS configuration

Hi everyone,

I just upgraded our vCenter server from version 6.5 to version 7 update 1. The problem is after upgrading I can not assign my old vCenter license to new server. Also I have the same issue with vSAN licenses. I attached a picture of my License page to this message. As you can see in the attached file the first row is the Evaluation license for vCenter server and below that you can see vSAN licenses that are unassigned.

I discovered the new feature "custom role" and it's great ! That's exactly what I need but I have an issue and I would like to know if I use it correctly.

I created a custom role names "Deployer" which allows :

- View deployments

- Deploy Cloud Templates

I want this role to be able to deploy cloud templates (blueprints) and see the status of deployments.

When I login with a user with this role, I only see deployments and cloud templates, that's great.

My issue is : In the "design" table, where the cloud templates are located, I can also "create" a cloud template ! And I don't want to role to be able to do this. Only admin will be able to create new cloud templates.

Is it a "bug" or I'm not using it correctly ?

I just bought video capture VHS to USB dongle to record tapes to digital format, however i'm a Mac user

When i connect the usb device to Mac, System Profiler lists it, but there is silence from VMware Fusion (Windows 10)

Not even a dialog "What do you want to do with this" ?  as its the first tmei am connecting.

Looking under USB in VM config doesn't see it either, so i'm assuming that is the first hurdle to overcome.. I'm changed from USB3.1 to USB2.0 as the device is USB 2.0 only., so i figured that could of been why, but nope.

Any reason why Fusion isn't 'seeing' it ? When i plug in my HFS+ external USB HD, of course Windows can't connect to it, but it still appears under VM USB settings.

Hi All, Could someone help out with this one? I'm trying to use the following URL Post vmware-view://view.mycompany.com/Primary%20Desktop?action=start-session That will Start the vConsole for a giving Machine, the issue that i'm seeing is that I'm in the vDeskpool Entitlement but I'm getting the following "You are not entitle to that desktop or Application" If I click Ok and Select the vDesk Pool  within the VMware Horizon Client I'm able to then Sign into that desktop

I dunno if I am at the right place here to ask this question but since I struggle for some time to get it done I am trying my luck. We have a Workspace ONE deployment (at VMware´s Cloud) and have a NetApp Storage on premise. Now we want to access the NetApp Storage with the mobile devices through the ' Content Locker'  App. I am facing problems with configuring the repository in the Workspace ONE console. The link, how should the syntax for the link look like so that Workspace ONE server can access the repository?

I have a very wired problem with my VM.
I'm using WMware Workstation 15 Pro on Windows 10 and created an VM which is running a Debian Linux (Raspbian Desktop) which has setup a network bridge.
On the VM I'm scanning the network for SSDP requests but I'm not able to receive all SSDP packages for some reason.
I then startet to play with the network configuration of VMWare. If my host is connected by WiFi and I set the bridge setting to automatic or select the WiFi interface, I don't receive all SSDP packages within the VM. But on the host itself I receive all SSDP packages from the network.
If I then connect the host to the same network by ethernet cable and then set the bridge to the ethernet interface everything works fine. I receive all SSDP packages on the host as well as in the VM.
To me this makes no sense that it doesn't also work with the WiFi interface.
I converted the VM into a ovf to run it with virtual box and there everything worked with the WiFi interface.
Is this maybe a bug of VMWare?
